After several weeks of pretty good fishing the fishing has slowed both offshore and inshore. I've done several trips since my last report and it's been pretty tough especially on the evening tarpon trips. Tarpon are usually found in good numbers around Miami's Government Cut this time of the year. Unfortunately the fish are not as thick as I'd like nor are they feeding aggressively.
A couple of nights ago I was there and saw several tarpon rolling but only managed to get one bite. Last night, we had much stronger winds, so it made it hard to to see the fish rolling around. I did mark some fish on my bottom machine but they refused to eat. We also fished a couple of usually dependable bridges without a bite. Today, I spoke to several area captains that had similar results. Hopefully, the fishing will turn around very soon.
Offshore, kings have been biting pretty good especially on the troll and some mahi continue to bite around the edge. Sailfish, have been few and far between. I'm hoping that the strong cold front moving through the area today will get the fish moving again. I have a couple of offshore trips coming up after the front so we'll find out soon enough.
